IMEX packaging introduces a line of child-resistant packaging for the Marijuana Industry.
Matthews NC, May 5—IMEX Packaging (www.imexpackaging.com), maker of clear bags, vinyl zipper bags, reusable shopping bags, garment bags, and other types of packaging is introducing a line of child-resistant packaging for Marijuana dispensaries in states that have legalized it’s sale.
“IMEX has always been a forward thinking company.” According to Steve Jeffrey, President and CEO of IMEX Packaging. “We started making vinyl zipper bags for textile products in 1974 and saw the opportunity in other industries. That led the company into the manufacturing of Cosmetic Bags, Garment Bags, Reusable Totes and now Child Resistant packaging for the Marijuana Industry.”
Twenty three states, including the District of Columbia, have current laws legalizing the substance in some form. In several states, like Colorado and Oregon, retail sites called Dispensaries are starting up. As these, and more states, develop legislation for the sale of marijuana, regulations regarding packaging are being directed to those businesses. Currently, any products sold that are to be eaten, swallowed, or inhaled must be in child resistant packaging in accordance with Title 16 C.F.R 1700 of the poison Prevention Packaging Act.
IMEX offers two bags for general use (they also have created exclusive bags for larger users), sometimes referred to as "exit bags", that have been designed so that product can be safely carried out of the store in compliance with the stringent state laws. These have been tested and certified under Title 16 CFR 1700 as child resistant marijuana packaging according to the CPSC. The bags are inexpensive, reusable, and can be printed with the store logo.
